AT&T 4G LTE coverage expands across ten states

We have seen plenty of 4G LTE expansion news coming from AT&T lately. We have seen several announcements this month alone and as of today we have word of expanded coverage across ten states. This latest LTE expansion includes coverage for those in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington.

With the majority of new coverage coming for those in Texas, lets first begin with those cities. AT&T has flipped the 4G LTE switch for those in Athens, Corsicana, Huntsville, Nacogdoches-Lufkin and Paris. The next state with multiple markets going live is Florida, which now has coverage for those in Lake City and Ocala.

The coverage for Alabama includes Huntsville, Decatur and Cullman. Those three states aside, the remaining coverage includes one market per state. Going in alphabetical order we have Arkansas up first with LTE coverage now available in Mountain Home. Louisiana is up next with coverage in Shreveport/Bossier City.

Moving on and we have LTE coverage going live for those in Lansing, Michigan; Gulfport/Biloxi Mississippi; Henderson, North Carolina; Chattanooga, Tennessee and Centralia, Washington. As always, this is just another round of AT&T LTE expansions. Otherwise, those in these areas who already have an LTE capable device, now seems like as good a time as any to begin taking advantage of these increased speeds.

AT&T expands 4G LTE coverage across eight states

AT&T seems to be offering these 4G LTE expansion updates on a fairly regular basis these days. The most recent came back on April 18, however we have been seeing these types of expansion announcements several times a month lately. On that note, this latest touches on coverage across eight states including Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Virginia and West Virginia.

Keep in mind that some of these are new markets and some are expansions of previously covered markets, lets first begin with Colorado. The Colorado coverage deals with Denver, which has been expanded to include parts of Golden and Lakewood. Some new coverage has been turned on for those in Kokomo, Indiana as well as Shelbyville, Kentucky and Flint, Michigan.

Previously existing coverage in Northwest Mississippi had 4G LTE available for those in Oxford. This expansion brings LTE to parts of Batesville along Highway 6, Sardis and South Oxford. Shifting back to another new market and those in Springfield, Missouri will now have the option to use LTE. New coverage has also been turned on for those in Petersburg, Virginia and for those in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Otherwise, looking the 4G AT&T network as a whole and we see the carrier still touting themselves as having the “nation’s largest 4G network.” To clarify, that includes the HSPA+ and LTE networks, which according to AT&T, is now accessible by more than 292 million people. AT&T users also get access to the nationwide hotspot network, which has 32,000 locations spread across restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers.

Next up with have three new areas which include Sebring, Florida; Athens, Ohio and Dyersburg and Ripley, Tennessee.

This latest LTE coverage comes in addition to an expansion for the Bowling Green, Ohio area which was announced a few days back, on March 18. A week ago, AT&T announced turning on the LTE network in Augusta, Georgia, Williamsburg, Virginia and Cleveland, Tennessee, but also expanding its 4G LTE coverage in Middle Georgia areas including Warner Robins, Gray and Fort Valley,  as part of its aggressive 4G LTE rollout strategy.

AT&T expands 4G LTE coverage in Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia

AT&T has announced the latest in terms of their 4G LTE network expansion. This of course, comes as a follow up to the report we recently mentioned which pegged the carrier as having the fastest LTE network speeds. Anyway, the expansion today deals with three states — Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia.

ATT-Mobile-Phone-Wireless-Logo-Store-Window-540x3041

The coverage for Georgia is dealing with the Augusta area and the Macon area. AT&T has flipped the switch for those in Augusta and expanded in the Macon area. Specifically, those in Gray, Fort Valley and Warner Robins should now be seeing some additional LTE coverage. Next up is new coverage for those in Cleveland, Tennessee.

The third state with new coverage is Virginia. This comes as an expansion to existing coverage and will affect those in Norfolk as well as parts of Portsmouth and Virginia Beach. Also included in the Virginia expansion is the Hampton Roads area which is noted as including Newport News, Ft. Eustis, Poquoson and Hampton.

Basically, what this means is that if you live in any of those areas — now is a pretty good time to start considering an LTE capable device, whether it be smartphone or tablet. Or for that matter, if you already have an LTE capable device, now seems like a good time to start enjoying those faster speeds. AT&T has quite a few LTE devices already available and we are also waiting for the release of the HTC One.

EE to expand LTE coverage to 27 more markets by June

Carrier promises 55% UK population coverage in 65 markets by mid-year

Sole UK 4G carrier EE has announced that it intends to expand its LTE coverage to a further 27 towns and cities across the country by June of this year. The move, it says, will bring 4G reception to 55 percent of the UK population in some 65 markets, up from its current 45 percent UK population coverage across 28 markets.

Between April and June, EE says it'll light up 4G in Aldershot, Ashford, Basildon, Basingstoke, Blackpool, Bracknell, Camberley, Colchester, Crawley, Farnborough, Guildford, Horsham, Huddersfield, Leatherhead, Maidstone, Milton Keynes, Oldham, Oxford, Redhill, Reigate, Sevenoaks, Stevenage, Tonbridge, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Warrington, Wigan and Woking.

With the strengthening of its LTE network, EE will be looking to make the most of its advantage in being the ony British 4G network until the middle of the year. In late spring or early summer, rival carriers like O2, Vodafone and Three will look to launch their own 4G networks, with Three promising in recent days to provide the service without hiking prices. EE currently operates its service on re-farmed 1800MHz airwaves; the ongoing 4G spectrum auction will determine how the UK's 800 and 2600MHz spectrum is divvied up.

With competition likely to intensify later in the year, 2013 looks set to become an interesting and historic year for the UK wireless industry.

T-Mobile 4G expanding its 4G coverage in time for Super Bowl and Mardi Gras

t-mobile

February is a big month for New Orleans. With tons of tourists coming to the city, T-Mobile has now announced they are beefing up and expanding their 4G coverage in the area just in time.

While U.S. Football fans are already well aware of this, for the rest of you: This weekend New Orleans will be packed with fans coming in for the Super Bowl. Just a few weeks later, Mardi Gras will arrive as well.

With all the additional texting, tweeting and downloading going on, T-Mobile is wise to gear up for the coming crowds now. In addition to expanding its 4G presence, T-Mobile also plans on installing a Distributed Antenna System that will allow folks inside and around the Superdome to have as crystal clear access to their network as possible.

For Mardi Gras, T-Mobile also intends to install “Cells on Wheels” in Weidenberg Park to increase voice and data load capacities. Last but not least, T-Mobile has created a Command Center for monitoring network use in the area and ensuring that all runs well.

The bottom-line is that if you are coming for the Super Bowl or Mardi Gras and are a T-Mobile customer, cellular coverage shouldn’t be a problem. It’s also worth noting that T-Mobile assures that these network improvements in New Orleans will remain after February and beyond.
